  • Compilation of CPI in times of COVID-19
    • Overview of general challenges and recommendations on how to ensure the production of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), as well as guidance notes by Eurostat and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that provide more detailed recommendations for continuing compilation of the CPI. The website also hosts a discussion forum for experts to share questions, experiences and good practices.

    • As part of its response, FAO has launched a new website to help inform the measures taken to overcome the threats to the agricultural and food sectors. Continuously updated as more resources become available, it provides an overview of FAO’s action in regard to the outbreak, key messages, policy tools, questions and answers, and offers valuable resources for statisticians.
  • FAO’s Data Lab on food chains under the COVID-19 pandemic
    • Through its Data Lab and the use of Big Data, text scraping and artificial intelligence, FAO conducts a global assessment that identifies and tracks policy responses countries adopted during past crises.
  • FAO policy platform
    • Collection of practices and policy responses in eight thematic areas, including Data and Statistics.
  • COVID-19 Policy Briefs and other resources
    • Collection of policy briefs and resources with qualitative and quantitative assessment of the pandemic’s impacts. Briefs are released on a day-to-day basis.

The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21)

  • PARIS21 COVID-19 Task Force
    • PARIS21 has convened a COVID-19 Task Force to engage and support our NSO partners across the globe, with the aim to mitigate the effect of the evolving global crisis on their daily operations, medium-term activities and long-term development.
  • Policy brief: Combating COVID-19 with data: what role for National Statistical Systems?
    • Policy brief introducing a conceptual framework that describes the adverse effects of the crisis on NSSs in developing countries. It also suggests short and medium-term actions to mitigate the negative effects by (1) focusing data production on priority economic, social and demographic data, (2) communicating proactively with citizens, academia, private sector and policy makers, and (3) positioning the NSO as advisor and knowledge bank for national governments.

    • Interactive application providing an overview of latest postponements and disruptions to the 2020 Census Round.
  • Technical brief on the implications of COVID-19 on census
    • Contains a sample of countries already altering census plans in light of COVID-19, as well as key recommendations and resources for countries. The brief also discusses the importance of advocacy and sustaining census capacity-strengthening virtually, particularly in view of potential long-term financial constraints resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.

  • LSMS launches high-frequency phone surveys on COVID-19
